Licensed Asscociate Counselor

Kevin Nelson earned his Master of Arts degree in counseling from Phoenix Seminary in 2022. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering that was earned in 1983 and worked for 34 years as an engineer and business executive before starting his career as a counselor.

Kevin considers it an immense privilege to work with clients through the challenges and obstacles that they face in life. With his clients, he puts a premium on gentleness, respect, compassion, and meeting them where they are. Kevin works with individuals, couples, families, and teens. With experience in in-patient clinical care, dealing with personality disorders, abuse, and addictions, Kevin comes to PCA with a solid background in caring for people who are experiencing grief, loss, and painful life events.

With training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and methods to treat trauma and codependency, Kevin works with a diverse group of clients. In addition, he is a level two certified Gottman Couples Therapist and is a Certified PREPARE-ENRICH Counselor.

He has been married to Barbara for more than forty years and they have three grown children who are married and starting to share some grandkids! Kevin enjoys travel, fishing, golf, hiking, and music. For many years, Kevin and Barbara have attended and served at Scottsdale Bible Church.
